Hopedale Scarecrow Fest 2023

Registration

Setup your scarecrow display at your own home or business and submit your address to us on our website below.

Do you want a prime spot for your scarecrow downtown?  Spaces are available on the Hopedale Community House Lawn!
The Hopedale Scarecrow Fest will be open to families, organizations and businesses who would like to build and enter their very own scarecrow display! Be wacky, be creative, be fun! Scary is ok! Scarecrows on your own property must be located in Hopedale, MA. Out of town businesses or residents are welcome to apply for a spot on the Community House lawn.

No entrants will be accepted after October 16, 2023.

Setup

All scarecrows (whether at your home or at the Community House) should be on display October 20 - November 2. Online voting will be open October 21st - October 31st at midnight.   Community House entrants will need to remove their displays by November 2nd.

Spaces at the Hopedale Community House

A great option for businesses who want a prime location for their scarecrows or families or organizations who don't have the space for a display.  Hopedale Community House spaces are open to both Hopedale and out of town entrants.

Each space will be 6 feet wide by 4 feet deep. You must stay within your space, no spilling out onto walkways. If there is a tree, sign or other structure within your space you may incorporate it into your design BUT you may not drill/nail into them or use tape/adhesive. Only zip ties, bungees, cords or rope – nothing that will damage it. **Entrants will be allowed 1 sign (provided by you) to display near your scarecrow no larger than 18”x24” (standard lawn sign).  Exterior walkways (lining the sidewalks) are the most visible to traffic (good for businesses who want to be seen!) We expect these to go quickly.

No political or inappropriate displays will be allowed. Any deemed so by the committee will be asked to change or remove. Displays should be family friendly (but scary is ok) and constructed to withstand the weather for the week. Displays must be removed on November 2nd, no exceptions. (Any left after the 2nd will be discarded).

Email questions to info@friendsofhistorichopedale.com or visit the Friends of Historic Hopedale Facebook page or our website at: www.friendsofhistorichopedale.com

IF you are using a post in your design please use one of the following: green metal fence stakes (available at Lowes or Home Depot for around $5), wooden fence/garden stakes (available at most garden centers) or something like rebar. Nothing bigger than 3" wide. We do not want to wreck the Community House lawn with a bunch of huge holes!

If you don't want to use a post in your design because you're planning a sitting scarecrow (in a chair, on a hay bale or some other prop) that's ok too!
